Description

Monks Close is a timber-framed house dating from the 17th century and early 19th century, mostly covered in brickwork. It has two storeys and features three irregularly placed windows. The roof is tiled, hipped at both ends, and slopes low above the outshots, with a larger chimney stack. The frame is partly exposed at the front and rear, while the majority of the walls are painted brickwork in English bond, showcasing cambered openings on the ground floor. The windows are casements, and there is a small early mullion window that has been filled in. The doorway is plain. This building is said to be the original manor house of Quidhampton.
