Description

Holly Bush Farmhouse, dated 1779 with mid-19th century alterations, is a farmhouse situated in Stoney Heath, Baughurst. The west facade is symmetrical, featuring three windows over two storeys. The building is topped with a hipped tile roof. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond, with a thin blue band just below the upper window sills and a white impost band linking three blind arcaded features. These arcades feature recessed blue header panels containing round-headed openings, with outer arches constructed of flintwork; the top courses of brick between the upper openings form the figures "1779.” Sash windows are set in exposed frames, and a central French door provides access. On the south side, a large blind arch is built of flintwork, with a continuous band at its impost level. The northern side of the original section extends slightly eastward, presenting four windows (one blank on each floor). This section includes sashes and a gabled porch with walling of vertical boards, incorporating a six-panelled door. The building was formerly known as The Lion Inn.
