Description
The property comprises a farmhouse and two cottages, Riverside Cottages, along with a separate Dairy Cottage near Withyham. Dairy Cottage may originate from the 17th century, but was altered in the 18th century when numbers 1 and 2 Riverside Cottages were added. The farmhouse itself is largely a building from the 19th century, although it may contain an earlier core.
Numbers 1 and 2 Riverside Cottages have a front facade of red brick with grey brick headers, while Dairy Cottage is tile hung above a red brick base, with a brick and tile-hung rear elevation. All buildings have tiled roofs, punctuated by three brick chimney stacks. The window arrangement is irregular, with a mix of casements in cambered architraves and more modern casements. Two doorcases are topped with penticed tiled heads.
The farmhouse has two external brick chimneys to the rear, hinting at an earlier structure. It is two storeys high, with three windows. It features projecting end gables with decorative bargeboards and full-height bay windows containing six lights. A gabled central porch provides access.
