Description
Field Place is a small house built in 1924-1925, designed by John D Clarke, a pupil of Sir Herbert Baker. The design is inspired by medieval southeastern vernacular architecture and features a modified L-shape. The house is two storeys high and has a rendered exterior with a hipped tiled roof.
On the front elevation, there is a projecting gabled extension to the left and one hipped dormer. An outside brick chimneystack sits on a stone base, and there are four windows with double and triple round-headed lights, which are separated by columns shaped like turned balusters. The round-headed doorcase is located in a porch extension at the angle of the L.
The garden elevation is regular, featuring two hipped dormers and three round-headed windows on the first floor, along with two double windows and a central triple window on the ground floor. The ground floor also includes a recessed loggia with three round-headed arches.
