Description
The platform waiting room at Berwick Station is a 19th-century structure made from a timber frame covered with weatherboarding, featuring a brick plinth at the rear. It has a rectangular plan divided into two waiting rooms and is situated on the Up platform. The enclosed shelter has a flat felted roof and an overhanging canopy with a scalloped valance. Each waiting room has its own entrance to the platform and a sash window, although a window on the west elevation has been boarded up. At the east end of the shelter, there is a late 20th-century open extension that houses an automatic ticket machine, which is not considered of special interest. Inside, the eastern waiting room has plain weatherboarding and modern metal seating, which is also not of special interest. The western waiting room is currently closed to the public and was not inspected.
