Description
22 and 24 Church Square are two small timber-framed houses that were originally one building. They are two storeys high with an attic room and have a total of four windows. The roof dates back to the 15th century. The western half of No 24 is a 16th-century addition, featuring an overhanging upper storey supported by three curved brackets. There is a passage beneath the western end of this addition on the ground floor. According to the Victoria County History, these houses, previously numbered 27 and 25, have open timbered ceilings and 15th-century fireplaces. Nos 20 to 46 (even) and No 33 form a group with Nos 27 to 30 on Watchbell Street.
