Description

Longer House, which is now Barclays Bank, is located at 1578 High Street. The building features an 18th-century front that was mostly rebuilt when Barclays Bank took over in 1930. Behind this facade, the house extends back into a gable that dates from the early 17th century or earlier, and it includes ceiling beams from a timber-framed structure. The building is two storeys high with three windows, constructed of red brick. It has an eaves cornice with modillions and a mansard roof with two dormers.
