Description

This is a pair of 18th-century houses located at 15 and 15A High Street. Originally listed as number 15, the properties are two storeys each, with three storeys overall. Number 15 is faced with curved tiles, while numbers 16 and 17 have painted brickwork. They are topped by a parapet, and feature bay windows on the first floor. Number 15 has a notable 19th-century shop front with a round-headed window fitted with cast iron panels, which are decorated with floral motifs in the spandrels, and a frieze with decorative circular motifs. Numbers 16 and 17 have later shop fronts. The properties are part of a group that includes numbers 6, 7, 7A, 9 to 17 (inclusive), gate piers, an old coach house, a garden gazebo, and the Rye Working Men's Conservative Club.
