Description

The Star House, located at 1607 Homefield Road in East Blatchington, was built around 1730, although some parts of the house may be older. The building has undergone significant alterations and expansions, resulting in a half H-shaped plan. It is two stories tall and features five windows. The exterior is a mix of materials, including sections of flint with red brick dressings and quoins, areas that are stuccoed, and parts that are weather-boarded. The roof is tiled and has three gables on the north side and two gables on the south side, corresponding to the projecting wings. There are two dormers situated between the gables, one of which has a large curved pediment above it. The windows are modern casements, and there is an 18th-century door with six fielded panels on the north side. The building was formerly known as the Star Inn.
