Description

Nos 3 to 6, Highland Gardens, are a group of four semi-detached houses built around 1880 in the Scottish Baronial style. The houses are constructed of stone with tiled roofs, and are arranged over three storeys, with a semi-basement and attic. They exhibit an asymmetrical design, with rusticated quoins, stepped gables topped with finials, corbelled eaves, and circular corner turrets featuring conical tiled roofs. The windows are stone mullion and transom windows, and include canted bays. The pairs of semi-detached houses are linked by short two-storey sections. They are built on a raised site above the road, accompanied by a stone garden retaining wall along the road. This wall includes a corbelled parapet at the corner with a gabled panel, and large circular stone gate piers at each end. Nos 3 to 6 and the garden retaining wall to the east form a group of group value.
