Description

Bentinck House is a circa 1810 building of three storeys. The front is plastered to resemble stonework, with tile-hung sides and a plastered rear. It has a slate hipped roof and raised surrounds to the windows. The house is one window wide, with sash windows containing glazing bars on each floor. To the left of the main entrance is a pilastered doorcase featuring paired modillions to the cornice hood, and a narrow rectangular fanlight in the frieze. The door is panelled. The west-facing elevation has a bow window of sashes with glazing bars to the ground and first floors, and a sash window with glazing bars above. The east front features contemporary cast iron railings to the basement area. Nos 26 and 29, which form a group with Bentinck House, are of local interest only.
