Description

The Burton Tomb is a 19th-century vault located in a small disused burial ground on the south side of West Hill in St Leonards. It features a small stone pyramid on top, with projecting plaques on each side that bear the names: James Burton and his wife Elizabeth, Emily Jane and Helen Wood, Decimus Burton, Eliza Burton (daughter of James Burton), and Alfred Burton (son of James Burton). The tomb was restored in 1973 by Burton's St Leonards Society.
