Description

Marwick Terrace, dating from circa 1840-50, comprises a terrace of twenty large houses in St Leonards. The buildings are stuccoed with slate roofs featuring console brackets to the eaves and round-headed dormers. The terrace is four storeys high, with an attic and basement. It originally had 30 windows. Bays three and six project slightly and rise to an additional storey above the eaves, each with a hipped roof. The second floor has round-headed windows within moulded architraves, and bracketed cills. The first floor windows are tall and rectangular, also within moulded architraves, and are accompanied by a balcony with balustrade and an ogee-shaped canopy with a shaped frieze. Doorways include rectangular fanlights and large brackets supporting a projecting balcony. All windows are sash windows without glazing bars. Numbers 1 to 20 form a group and demonstrate group value.
