No. 5 Market Place is a town house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the early 17th century and was altered in the 18th century, with further changes and extensions made in the late 20th century. The building features a mix of part timber frame encased in brick and part brick construction, topped with an old tile roof. The ground floor has an open plan layout with extensions at the rear. The upper floors consist of two framed bays and the building stands three storeys high. It has a modillion cornice and a parapet with stone coping. The front has two wide sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick arches. The ground floor features an early 20th-century wooden shop front with a moulded fascia. Inside, the timber frame is exposed on the first and second floors, showcasing queen posts and clasped through purlins.
