Description
No. 6 Market Place is a town house from the mid-18th century that has been altered and extended in the late 20th century. It features a brick construction with an old tile roof and is open plan on the ground floor. The building stands three storeys tall and has a small chimney with a clay pot on the right side.
There is a painted moulded string course above the first and second floor windows, and the building is topped with a parapet that has stone coping. The front has four bays, with sash windows that have architrave frames; the glazing has been altered, and there are rubbed brick arches above the windows. On the ground floor, there are two wide segmental bow shop windows, each consisting of five panes high by eight panes wide. The central entrance features a 20th-century glazed door with six panes and a rectangular fanlight that includes oval and diagonal bars interlaced with a curved diamond pattern. Both the bows and the door are sheltered by a continuous flat hood. Additionally, there is a 20th-century office entrance door located in the left-hand corner.
