Description
The Cottage, adjoining the stables at Glebelands, is a groom's cottage that has been converted into a staff cottage. It was built in 1897 by Sir Ernest Newton. The structure is constructed of brick, with some weatherboarding, and features a tiled gabled roof. It is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys. There is a left flanking chimney and a ridge chimney in the center.
On the northeast front, there is a projecting weatherboarded gable in the center, which is supported by large wooden posts, creating an open, covered entrance porch. The gable contains a three-light leaded casement window, and there is a half-glazed and panelled entrance door within the porch. To the left, there is another gable with three-light leaded casements; the upper window has a segmental brick arch, while the ground floor window is set within a stone surround. The cottage is included for its group value.
