Description

The Thomson tomb is a late 17th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, approximately 8 metres south of the west end of the nave. It is constructed of stone and features a plinth, a moulded stone base, and moulded side panels. The south face of the tomb has an inscription that reads: "William Thomson d.1688, late of ye Parish of St. Andrew Holbourne in Middlesex and High Constable of Hundred of Ossleston in the said County. Twenty six years together d. August 24th 1688, in ye 64 year of his age." Additionally, there is a carved panel on the east end that depicts a visor and a unicorn above it.
