Description

The Adelaide Square terrace comprises numbers 1 to 29 (odd) and dates from around 1835 to 1840. It is a symmetrical two-storey terrace built of London stock brick, with the second houses from each end (numbers 3, 15, and 27) projecting forward and featuring pediments. The terrace has a shallow stucco frieze, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course. The roof is covered with slate. Each house has two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. The first-floor windows are recessed sash windows with flat, gauged yellow brick arches. Ground-floor windows are round-headed, with radiating and concentric glazing patterns. The entrances have four-panel doors with recessed quarter-fluted reveal columns, a thin, moulded, modillioned cornice across the heads, and radial, swagged, semi-circular fanlights above. Numbers 1 to 29 (odd) form a group with numbers 4 and 6, and 18 to 32 (even) on the opposite side of the square.
