Description
Barton Court is a country house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features slate roofs. The building consists of a large central block with a 19th-century wing to the east that is set back, and a 19th-century block to the west, also set back and connected to the main block by a garden wall. The main block has three storeys, while the west block has two storeys.
On the south elevation, the central block has a parapet and bands at the floor levels, with the centre breaking forward slightly and featuring a simple stone-capped pediment. There are two glazing bar sash windows on each side of the central break, which includes a semicircular-headed window with moulded brick pilasters and surround on the second floor, a Venetian window with a moulded brick surround on the first floor, and a stone Tuscan portico with two columns and pilasters. Above the glazed door, there is an arched radiating and curved fanlight.
The east wing has a parapet with a moulded bracketed stone cornice, three glazing bar sash windows, and a six-panel door in an arched opening to the left. The west block features a gable pediment with a timber dentil cornice and eaves, along with a central oculus and two glazing bar sash windows. The linking wall has a semicircular arched-headed door.
