Description
The Old Vicarage is a building dating from around 1860, originally serving as a vicarage and now divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of brick with Bath stone dressings and features steeply pitched tiled roofs. The layout is almost symmetrical, consisting of a central block with crosswings oriented on an east-west axis. Notable architectural details include a moulded stone string at the first floor, a moulded stone plinth, and quoins. The gabled cross wings are topped with parapets that have moulded stone copings. The building has two storeys and an attic.
On the south elevation, there is a central three-light mullioned and transomed sash window with cusped heads above a 20th-century entrance door, which is accessed by four stone steps flanked by walls and urns. The flanking wings feature large, two-storeyed square bay windows with steep stone caps and four-light mullioned and transomed sashes, also with cusped heads.
The west elevation includes four eaves dormers on the left, each with two-light casements set under brick relieving arches. The original entrance door is located under a timber gabled porch, positioned off centre to the right.
Inside, the central hall features a large staircase with a carved balustrade that showcases pointed arches with cusping.
