Description

The Manor House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the 16th, 18th, and early 19th centuries. It is constructed from a mix of brick and flint, with brick dressings, and features timber framing with brick infill. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a large rendered chimney on the west side, along with another chimney to the south of the main block. The building is designed in an L shape and has two storeys.

On the east elevation, there is a reused 17th-century central door set in a 16th-century moulded frame, flanked by two large vertical sliding sash windows with glazing bars, and an irregular casement window to the left. The south elevation features a mix of modern and 18th-century casements, along with a small two-light 15th-century stone lancet window located on the ground floor, close to the left of the chimney. The east block originally served as the hall, while the south block is a cross wing.

Inside, the ground floor room to the south of the hall has moulded beams and a stone fireplace with a four-centred arch. The hall has three bays, with moulded and chamfered queen struts that have mortices for arched braces in the tie and posts, as well as curved wind bracing and a double purlin. The cross wing also features a similarly braced roof, and there is some 17th and 18th-century panelling on the first floor.
