Description
The stable and attached privy at Copyhold Farm, located at the northeast end of the farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with the privy added in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with some blue headers and features a plain tile roof. The building is one storey high with a loft and consists of three bays, with the privy attached to the rear center.
The front of the stable has a central stable door (which has been removed) flanked by shuttered windows (the shutter on the left window has been removed), all of which are topped with segmental header-brick arches. There is a loft loading door on the right, which rises through the eaves beneath a flat roof, and the eaves are dentilled. The roof is half-hipped at the right end.
At the rear, the privy features a board door on the right side (facing the house) and a small four-pane window on the left side, with stepped eaves and a hipped roof.
Inside, the stable contains stall partitions originally intended for five animals, a manger rail, and some remaining sections of a feeding rack with space above for filling from the loft. The interior also includes stop-chamfered cross-beams and a ladder leading up to the loft, where the roof is supported by curved cruck-like braces. The privy has a wooden seat.
