Description

Cherry Orchard Cottage is an 18th-century house located on Bucklebury Hatch Lane, near Kiff Green. It is constructed of Flemish-bond red brick with corbelled brick eaves, a header-bond burnt brick platband, and window arches. The roof is covered in plain tiles with gabled ends, and there are brick chimney stacks at the gable ends. The house has a front range of two rooms, with a central entrance. A rear wing extends to the left, which is longer, and another gable-ended wing is present on the right. A hipped roof covers a central area, possibly a stair tower. The front elevation is symmetrical with three bays; the central first-floor window is blocked with a header-bond diaper-pattern brickwork design. The ground floor windows are 3-light casements with glazing bars, set within segmental arches, and the central doorway has a panelled door with a similar arched surround. The interior is reported to contain large ceiling beams and 18th-century chimney-pieces.
