Description
The temple, located approximately 22 metres to the west of Purley Hall, was built in 1746 and restored in 1913. It is constructed of flint with a brick plinth and features a slate roof. The design includes an open triangular pedimented gable end. The entrance showcases a Serlian motif with square piers, blocked rustication, a wooden cornice, and a central rusticated arch adorned with a mask on the keystone. Inside, there is an arched niche at the rear flanked by two blank circular panels, with additional blank circular panels on the end walls. A seat surrounds three sides of the interior and has a lattice back. A tablet inside reads: "Erected according to tradition to commemorate the battle of Culloden. 1746. Restored 1913."
