Description
Wordsgarth is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with 19th and 20th century extensions. It features painted brick and some timber framing, topped with a thatched roof. The building has a long plan running north to south, with 20th century extensions at right angles to the north and west, which are not of special interest. It stands one and a half storeys tall and has four eaves dormers on the east side. There is a large ridge stack with a date stone, which is now illegible, located one bay from the south of the ridge.
On the east elevation, to the left, there are three 20th century casement windows flanking a door that is sheltered by a thatched hood. In the center, there is one bay of timber framing with brick infill, featuring one single casement window and one three-light casement window. To the right, there is a 20th century extension with a two-light casement window and a door.
