Description
The Monument, located at 57 Northbrook Street, is a late 17th century or early 18th century building that has been altered. It stands two storeys high with dormers and features four windows. The roof is tiled and has a tall brick chimney stack. The front is finished in stucco with a plain band at the first floor level. There are two large tile-hung gables, each with two-light casement windows. The first floor has mullioned, two-light windows that have been fitted with modern casements, while the ground floor features sash windows with sidelights. The entrance has a framed doorway. The south gable wall is rendered, and the north party wall of the property was demolished in 1837 when the Methodist Chapel was built. At the rear, there is an 18th century brick extension. Inside, the building retains original ceiling beams on the ground floor.
