Description
The stable block, built between 1895 and 1899 by Edward Burgess, is located approximately 50 metres to the west of Marlston House in Bucklebury. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a graded stone slate roof. The left gable has a 2-light casement window, while the off-centre entrance to the right projects and includes a boarded door. Above the entrance, there is a 4-light mullioned attic window and a clock with a hoodmould in the gable. An octagonal timber cupola with a domed lead cap and a lead ball finial sits behind the gable. The building is designed in a U-plan and consists of one storey and an attic. On the north-east front, the entrance is flanked by two glazing bar sash windows on each side, with three blank arches to the left. Two of these arches have 20th-century casements, and one has a 20th-century door. The wings on the right and left project and have undergone 20th-century alterations and additions.
