Description

This is an early 17th-century timber-framed cottage located in Blind Lane, Lambourn. The original structure comprises two timber-framed bays with brick infill and dressed flint, and features a half-hipped thatched roof. A brick bay has been added to the left-hand side. The timber framing is square and incorporates arched braces. Small 19th-century casement windows are present, but the lintel of one window reveals old diagonal mullion holes. A boarded door is disused and there was a former baffle entry. Inside, the cottage has two rooms with heavy chamfered longitudinal beams and old joists. The upper floor displays a queen post roof with a through side purlin, wind braces at angles, and it appears that one bay has been removed from the right side.
