Description

Ivy House is a late 18th-century house situated on the south-west side of Newbury Street in Lambourn. The house is constructed of vitreous brick with a plinth, red dressings, quoins, and three horizontal flush bands of red brick. It has flat boxed eaves supported by paired, cut brackets, and a slate roof. The front facade features three vertically sliding sash windows with marginal glazing. The central entrance is accessed via three stone steps, and is framed by a six-panelled door within panelled reveals, an architrave and two engaged Roman Doric columns supporting an entablature. The entablature features a triglyph frieze with moulded panels, a modillioned cornice, and a pediment bearing three roses in the tympanum. A single-storey extension is attached to the right, containing one window and a narrow six-panelled door within a doorcase consisting of panelled pilasters with rounded heads, a dentil-moulded lintol, and a hood.
