Description
The Old Smithy is a cottage that was originally a smithy, dating from the late 17th century and altered in the 19th century. It is built of painted brick with some exposed timber framing and has tiled roofs. The building has a rectangular plan with two cross gables on the south side. It is one and a half storeys high, featuring a small gabled dormer situated between the gables and a ridge chimney located at the west end of the roof.
On the south elevation, to the left, there is a one-storey barn that has been converted into a garage, complete with a hipped cantilevered roof over boarded doors. To the right is the cottage itself, which has four two-light casements with cambered heads on the ground floor, and one three-light casement in each gable. Between the first and second windows from the left, there is a boarded stable-type door.
