Description
No. 24 High Street is a Grade II* listed house that now functions as a house and shop. The building features a late 18th-century front that is built onto an earlier structure from the 16th or 17th century. It has a tiled roof with three gabled dormers, each fitted with glazing bar sashes. The exterior is adorned with mathematical tiles and stucco quoins. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three plain glazing bar sashes located above a well-preserved late 18th-century shop front. This shop front consists of two flat bays with curved ends, flanking a central 20th-century door, and there is an additional door to the right, all sheltered by a flat canopy that features an ornamental frieze. The right bay of the shop front is accented with thin moulded pilasters that flank the former central door opening. Inside, the building retains substantial timber framing and includes a jettied wing that is positioned at right angles to the street frontage.
