Description
The United Reformed Church Hall, originally known as the Old Congregational School Rooms, dates from around 1857, with an extension added around 1880. This single-storey building features a symmetrical, projecting three-bay center flanked by later wings designed in a similar style. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with projecting bracketed eaves. The structure is made of multi-coloured stock brick, accented with blue brick pilasters that support an entablature with a blue brick frieze. The wide central bay has paved doorways with stucco surrounds and console-bracketed cornices. The narrow end bays include round arched porches, with masks on the imposts representing notable figures such as Milton, Whitfield, Watts, and Raikes. Above the central doorways, there is a panelled plaque inscribed "Congregational School Rooms."
