Description
The building at 123 and 124 High Street dates to circa 1870. It is a three-storey structure built of red brick with stone dressings, topped by a steeply-pitched slate roof and featuring two false dormers. Four small turrets are present, rising through the first and second floors. The front facade has eight windows in total. The second floor has double round-arched windows, while the first floor features mullioned and transomed windows. The ground floor has largely been modernized, with the exception of the left-side doorcase, which includes lettering above the entrance. Originally a fish market, the ground floor interior retains fine ceramic panels depicting marine subjects, including sailing boats, Neptune, Venus, and dolphins.
