Description

Woolwich House is a corner building constructed around 1850 to 1860, designed for commercial use and featuring Italianate architectural details. It stands three storeys high, built of yellow brick with stone dressings. The building has five bays facing High Street and three bays on Bernard Street. At the top, there is a parapet with a balustrade and ornate Italianate chimney stacks that conceal the roof. The structure includes a modillion cornice and bands of alternating blank panels and paterae. The windows are sash style, set in moulded architraves with cornices and console brackets on the first floor. Moulded bands separate the floors. The ground floor features a contemporary shop front with granite columns and a segmental stone pediment adorned with swag moulding. Additionally, there are Corinthian columns and segmental headed casements at the ground level, along with a stone plinth.
