Description
The Fleming Arms Public House is an early 18th-century building located on High Road in Swaythling. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and features two storeys with attics, topped by an old tiled roof that has three hipped dormers. The dormers contain small two-light casement windows set in moulded frames. A string course runs along the first floor level, which has two windows with segmental heads. The ground floor includes three tall casement lights and two three-light casement windows, also with segmental heads. A large square central panel with a moulded stone surround displays a painted coat of arms. The entrance features a half-glazed central door beneath a painted stone Roman Doric porch, which is supported by two pilasters and two columns, and has a plain frieze, moulded cornice, and blocking course. At the back, there is a wing of similar design with two windows on each floor. To the right side, there is a one-storey extension built in 1903, made of painted brick and featuring a gable and a Roman Doric porch.
