Description

The Pitt Tomb, located approximately 13 metres to the south of the chancel of the Church of St. Laurence, is a chest tomb dated 1749. It is constructed of ashlar and features a moulded base and top, with two fielded panels on each side and one at each end. The tomb is adorned with corner pilasters that have sunken panels. The inscription reads: "Here lyeth the Body of Mr. Richard Pitt Late of London Plumber who Died Feb:y 23d 1749. Aged 28 years."
