Description

The gate piers and gates to Highland Road Cemetery in Portsmouth were built around 1854 by Thomas Ellis Owen and are designed in the Gothic style. The structure features two square stone gate piers topped with pyramidal caps and ornamental metal finials. Each side of the piers has trefoil-headed panels and a moulded plinth. The attached cast iron gates include spear railings and dog rails. These elaborate mid-19th century gate piers are part of a series of structures at Highland Road Cemetery designed by Thomas Ellis Owen.
