Description
Netley Terrace is a terrace of eleven houses built between 1859 and 1860 by Gauntlett. The houses are stuccoed with a Welsh slate roof, featuring brick stacks centrally between numbers 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and to the right of number 11. The end houses, numbers 1 and 11, project forward with facing gables, and flanking pilasters to the outer bays. Number 11 has a recessed two-panelled door with a margin-glazed overlight to the left, and a two-storey tripartite canted bay to the right, with a four-pane sash window and narrow flanking sashes on the front, lights divided by stucco pilasters. Number 1 has a similar bay with 20th-century casement windows, both featuring a cornice and balustrade. A moulded string course runs between the storeys, aligned with the top of the bay balustrade. Numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 each have a recessed six-panelled door with an overlight to the right; number 10 has a margin-glazed overlight, and they are all approached by six stone steps. Numbers 2, 6, 8, and 10 have sash windows set within stuccoed projecting canted surrounds, while number 4 features a tripartite sash. On the first floor, numbers 4, 6, 8, and 10 have four-pane sashes, and number 2 has a twelve-pane sash. Numbers 3, 7, and 9 each have a recessed panelled door with an overlight to the left, approached by six stone steps, and a sash window set within a stuccoed projecting canted surround to the right. Number 5 has a tripartite sash in a similar surround to its left. Dormer windows are located on the first and second floors of each house. Projecting eaves are bracketed, and a band course runs along the building. Numbers 2 to 10 have a wood trellis verandah across the ground floor, tented with a glazed roof. On the left return, there is a two-panelled door with a fanlight set within an architrave, above an arched opening with imposts set in a plain surround. The interior was not inspected.
