Description
Upper Mount is a villa that has been converted into a hotel, built in 1851 by T.E. Owen. The exterior is finished in stucco and features a slate roof with rendered stacks on both the left and right sides. The building has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a three-bay façade consisting of one wide bay, one narrow bay, and one blinded bay.
At the center, there is a two-storey projecting entrance with a gable facing the street. This entrance is approached by four steps leading to a two-leaf, four-panelled door with a fanlight, which is set beneath a round arch that has an arched architrave supported by console brackets. To the left of the entrance is a four-pane sash window set under a flat arch, while to the right is a similar sash window located within a recessed bay. A sill band runs across the first floor.
On the first floor, to the left, there is an eight-pane sash window with a moulded architrave, and a lunette window in the attic set within the facing gable. The central first-floor window is a small round-headed casement. The eaves are supported by long, shaped stucco brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
