Description

Two terrace houses at 61 and 62 Queen Street, dating from the early 19th century, are now shops with flats above. They are constructed of painted brickwork, with a hipped roof covered in interlocking tiles and a brick stack to the right. The properties are three storeys high, with a four-bay facade of 2:2 configuration.

Number 61 features a 20th-century door and window infill set within the original shopfront frame. The shopfront retains panelled pilasters with decorative capitals, brackets supporting the fascia, and a moulded cornice. Number 62 has a 20th-century door on the left and a shopfront casement on the right, both set within original flanking pilasters, a fascia with shaped ends, and a cornice.

The windows of Number 61 include two four-pane sashes on the first floor. The first and second floors of Number 61, and the first and second floors of Number 62, each have two twelve-pane sashes. A dentil brick band course runs along the facade, topped by a coped parapet. To the right of Number 62 is a first-floor extension with an open space underneath, featuring a narrow sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
