Description
The former servants lavatory at Gayhurst House, part of No. 12 Gayhurst Court Mews, was built between 1859 and 1860 by William Burges. This structure, which served as a lavatory for male servants, projects from the northwest elevation of the former service wing. It is a circular building resembling a Chapter House or monastic kitchen, constructed of stone and topped with a steep conical tiled roof that features a large carving of the head of Cerberus. The building includes four large gabled dormers, each with two arched lights and a circular opening above. There is an eaves gutter with stone rainwater heads positioned over buttresses, and a plinth and cill string. The exterior also showcases four two-light moulded stone mullioned windows. The interior originally had brick divisions, which have since been removed.
