Description

Latini Italian Restaurant is a public house that has been converted into an Italian restaurant. It was built in 1821 for Charles Hardy. The building features rendered brickwork painted white and a slate roof. It stands three storeys high with a three-bay frontage, which includes a central doorway adorned with an archivolt and pilasters. The doorway has a new glazed door and a plain fanlight above it. On either side of the entrance, there are 16-pane sash windows with painted sills.

The first floor has a plat band and features 20-pane, 16-pane, and 20-pane windows, with the boxes concealed. The top floor also has a plat band, with windows that are 15-pane, 12-pane, and 16-pane. The building has gable stacks. A two-bay service wing extends from the west gable end, featuring a lean-to that extends to the facade. There is an end stack, and at the rear, there is a part-external stack and false windows, along with a large central lean-to and later additions.

Inside, the ground floor has been opened up, and the ceiling beams are boxed. Historically, this building was constructed by Charles Hardy, who owned the Manor, to capitalize on trade from the newly opened canal. It was later known as the Railway Tavern and subsequently the Newport Arms.
