Description

This is a group of three small, mid-18th century brick houses forming numbers 117 to 121 on the High Street in Stony Stratford. They have steep pitched roofs originally tiled, and a total of five hipped dormers. The frontages have been significantly altered over time.

Number 117 has a cemented facade with two windows and one blind window on the first floor, featuring modern casement windows. A moulded brick eaves band is present, along with a modern shop front. Numbers 119 and 121 are stuccoed with quoins. The first floor windows have three casements on number 119 and one on number 121. The ground floor windows have stucco surrounds, except over a shallow bay to the left of number 121. Plain door hoods with rectangular lights are above the doorways. Some original casements remain in the dormers.

The rear of the buildings is constructed of stone. A former bakery is situated behind number 119 and retains some internal timber framing. A dated brick, inscribed "AM 1775 (or 1776)", is incorporated into the construction. Numbers 117 to 127 (odd) form a group, with number 123 possessing only local interest.
