Description
No 22 Horsefair Green is a former Royal Oak Public House dating from the early 18th century. This two-storey house is constructed of roughcast brick and features a steeply pitched slate roof, with brick verges and high plain kneelers on the south-east side. It has a central brick chimney and another chimney to the right. On the first floor, there are two widely spaced windows with later glazing bar sashes, separated by a narrow blind window. A band runs over the ground floor, which has two later three-light bays. The central door has four flush panels and a rectangular light above it, with a moulded wooden cornice above the bays. The front is roughcast, while the rear is part timber-framed. There is a back yard that includes a tall brick chimney from a washhouse. No 22 Horsefair Green is part of a group with Burnham House and No 34 Silver Street.
