Description

These are two early 18th-century houses on the north-east side of High Street, Stony Stratford. They are built of stone with a plastered brick front, distinguished by their toothed eaves. Both have steep pitched tiled roofs, with hipped dormers on number 98 and flat-topped dormers on number 100. Each house is two stories high with two windows per floor. Number 100 has sash windows with glazing bars; number 98 has sashes under a cambered head. A band runs over the ground floor of number 98, where there are two square bay shop fronts flanking the entrance. Number 100 is slightly set back from the street. The shop front has a large window with a central entrance, flanked by pilasters and brackets supporting the fascia. Numbers 62 to 86 (even), including numbers 66A, 70A and 86A, numbers 88 to 106 (even) and the former St Anthony Franciscan Preparatory School form a group.
