Description

Number 31 on High Street is a shop with living accommodation above, currently used as hotel bedrooms. It was built in 1846 as premises for auctioneers and wine merchants. The building features red and brown brick in a diaper bond pattern, with stone dressings and a hipped slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has two windows. There is a rounded corner facing the Swan Revived Hotel. The windows are six-pane sashes with Gibbs surrounds. The ground floor retains its original shopfront, which includes a cornice, fascia, brackets, and pilasters.
