Description
The buildings at 17 and 19 High Street date from the early to mid-19th century, with a rear wing of either the 16th or 17th century. The front elevation is of red brick with a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high, featuring modern shop windows without a cornice. The first floor has sash windows retained within their reveals, with glazing bars, flat arches, and a central dummy window. The rear wing has a ground floor of rubble and a timber-framed first floor, covered by an old tiled roof with a south gable. This rear wing has been extensively repaired with modern red brick and includes modern casement windows. The rear wing is notable for much repair in modern red brick. The buildings form a group with numbers 5 to 27 (odd) High Street, and the Church of St Peter and St Paul.
