Description
Westlands, located on Olney Market Place, is a 17th-century building that has undergone significant alterations. It features a restored slate roof, ashlar stone construction, a stone-coped gable, and a fretted parapet. The building has a brick stack and two flat-topped dormers. It stands two storeys high with an attic, showcasing a front that dates from the 18th or early 19th century, which includes a reset datestone inscribed "1611 WES".
To the left of the centre, there are half-glazed doors set within a wide Tuscan columned porch that has pilasters, a frieze with round medallions, and a cornice. On the right side, there is a square bay window, and the first floor features two pairs of 19th-century sash windows. A large 19th-century wing extends to the south, with a gable facing the street, a two-storey stone canted bay window, and a pair of sash windows on the second floor.
The flank elevation facing Spring Lane is constructed of rubble stone and includes a projecting stone stack at the gable, one sash window, and an early 19th-century panelled door with a reeded wooden doorcase. Additionally, there is a high garden wall with tiled coping attached to the west of the property.
