Description
Bryant House is a former house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame with brick cladding and weatherboarding, topped with a Kent tile Mansard roof. The main structure includes a central entrance hall and a rear outshut that contains the stairs, with a ridge stack present. To the left is a single-storey ancillary range that is now used as offices. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a nearly symmetrical front with three windows.
The front features two flat-roofed dormers with Yorkshire sash windows that have glazing bars. On the first floor, there is one central 12-pane sash window flanked by two 16-pane sash windows in revealed frames. On the ground floor, there are two tripartite sash windows with a configuration of 4:12:4 panes on either side of a half-glazed door. An additional half-glazed door, which has been inserted, now serves as the main entrance. The left-hand single-storey wing has a Victorian canted bay window and a porch at its entrance. The rear of the building also features Yorkshire sash windows.
Inside, there are some shallow chamfered ceiling beams and a chamfered fire surround in the left-hand room. The rear stairs have barley-sugar balusters, with two balusters for each tread. Some original planked doors remain, showcasing a variety of 18th-century hinges.
