Description
The wall with gates enclosing the churchyard of St Margaret's Parish Church dates mainly from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of random rubble ragstone, clunch, and flint, with brick above on the eastern side, while the western side is entirely made of brick with brick piers. At the northeast end, there are two square-section brick piers that support an overthrow with iron double gates. A lychgate, featuring brick piers and a hipped roof covered with Kent tiles, along with side benches, is believed to have been built around 1920. The section on the western side serves as a retaining wall and is a prominent feature overlooking a public open space.
